FAQ

What is a pedal trolley? Expand

A pedal trolley is sometimes called a pedal pub, trolley tavern, party bike, bar bike or a quadricycle.  We have started to refer to ours as a "land yacht" because all of our tours begin and end at the Kenosha Yacht Club.

Regardless of what you call it, it is a 14-passenger, open-air, vehicle that requires human pedal power to propel.  Our bike has 10 seats for people to pedal and a bench across the back which will hold 4 more.

Riding together is a fun way to experience Kenosha whether it is a birthday, bachelor/bachelorette party, bridal shower, comany outing or just a let's get together and do something kinda thing.

What is included in the price? Expand

The price covers the trolley rental cost for the 90 minutes where we make 2-3 stops throughout the downtown Kenosha area. We’ll provide a Captain to navigate the 14-passenger land yacht. Coolers are also provided.

Where do we board the Lakeshore Pedal party bike? Expand

All tours begin and end at the Kenosha Yacht Club at 5130 4th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53140.

Where does the Lakeshore Pedal party bike stop and for how long? Expand

During a private tour, that is up to you!  Just let your driver know at the start of the tour. And if you aren’t from Kenosha, we will be happy to make recommendations.  Most groups stop at two spots (usually bars) for about 15-20 minutes at each place.  Some people prefer to stay on board the whole tour, even during the stops; and that is just fine, too!

How much does it cost? Expand

A private tour has a flat rate ranging from $300-$400 plus tax and booking fees, depending on the time and day of week. Make sure you book your tour well in advance, as we are often sold out on popular time-slots months in advance!

Does the pedal trolley have a motor? Expand

Yes, there is an electric assist for the hills near the Kenosha Yacht Club and throughout Simmons Island. Otherwise, our routes are pretty flat and it’s a crawl, not a race.  If you are hesitant to book due to fitness ability, only 10 seats pedal and the other 4 can relax on non-pedaling seats.

Can we eat and drink on board? Expand

Yes, but you have to follow the rules. You may bring three 12-oz cans per person. This includes beer, wine coolers or hard ciders – no glass!!! Bring your own ice chest or use ours.  You are also free to bring food on board. If you get overly intoxicated during the tour and become a nuisance, you will be asked to get off without a refund.

Can we decorate the trolley for our special occasion? Expand

Of course! Be sure to arrive 15 minutes in advance of your tour departure time to give yourself enough time to put up the decorations. Also, please keep your decorations socially appropriate.

What if it rains? Expand

Lakeshore Pedal Tour’s trolley operates rain or shine! If it’s going to rain, we recommend bringing rain jackets and/or ponchos. It’s still a lot of fun- think of it as an adventure, plus we have a roof to cover you. These tours can be a lot of fun with the right group.  But if you are really worried, you can purchase trip insurance available when you book.  We only cancel tours if there are unsafe conditions, as described by a national weather advisory. The person who booked the trolley will be contacted prior to a tour if severe weather is expected.

Can more than 14 people fit on the Lakeshore Pedal Tour trolley? Expand

No, strict local laws keep us from exceeding our legal capacity. The fourteen seats include all of our pedaling seats and the back bench.

Are people under the age of 21 allowed on board? Expand

Yes, but riders under the age of 21 must have a parent or guardian present.  We check ID’s for all adult riders. To pedal, riders need to be at least 5'2" to reach the pedals.

Is there a weight limit for riders? Expand

Yes and no. The maximum weight is 275 pounds to sit on a pedaling seat.  However, there is a bench across the back (non-pedaling) that will accomodate heavier persons.
